Morning boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel — a natural 32-kilometer waterway concentrating the highest density of hippos in Africa. Hundreds of hippos line the banks, massive Nile crocodiles bask nearby, elephants bathe and spray water, and the birdlife is staggering — pelicans, cormorants, kingfishers, and African fish eagles. Following lunch, drive to the Ishasha sector — famous worldwide for its tree-climbing lions draped in fig tree branches, a behavior seen regularly only here and in Tanzania's Lake Manyara.
