Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1 is built around Volcanic crater lakes and Kasenyi Plains game drive. Travel west to Queen Elizabeth National Park (approximately 6 hours through beautiful countryside). The route passes through lush green hills with stop-worthy views of volcanic crater lakes — emerald-green pools set in the rolling landscape. Reach in the afternoon and settle into your lodge overlooking the Kazinga Channel. Evening game drive on the Kasenyi Plains — the park's most wildlife-rich sector with large herds of Uganda kob performing spectacular mating displays, elephants, buffalo, warthogs, and lions. Watch as the sun sets over the Rwenzori Mountains creating a striking silhouette.

The focus today is Kazinga Channel — hundreds of hippos and Ishasha tree-climbing lions. Morning boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel — a natural 32-kilometer waterway concentrating the highest density of hippos in Africa. Hundreds of hippos line the banks, massive Nile crocodiles bask nearby, elephants bathe and spray water, and the birdlife is staggering — pelicans, cormorants, kingfishers, and African fish eagles. Following lunch, drive to the Ishasha sector — famous worldwide for its tree-climbing lions draped in fig tree branches, a behavior seen regularly only here and in Tanzania's Lake Manyara.

Today's route brings together Explosion craters landscape and Final wildlife-viewing opportunity. Start with a morning game drive exploring the explosion craters area — a dramatic landscape of volcanic crater lakes in shades of green, blue, and turquoise set among rolling grasslands. Excellent for birdwatching with martial eagles, secretary birds, and scenic photography. Following breakfast, drive back to Entebbe/Kampala arriving by evening. Safari ends.
