From $650 per person • 4 Days / 3 Nights
Tour Overview
Climb via the gentle Sirimon route with stunning moorland scenery to Point Lenana (4,985m) — Africa's third highest peak.
Day-by-Day Itinerary
Drive to Sirimon Gate on the northern slopes of Mount Kenya. Trek through montane forest with towering camphor and cedar trees. The forest is alive with Colobus monkeys, Sykes monkeys, and mountain birds. Emerge into open moorland and continue to Old Moses Camp with panoramic views of the northern plains.
Trek across stunning moorland through the Mackinder Valley — one of the most beautiful mountain landscapes in Africa. Giant lobelia and groundsel plants dot the landscape as you ascend through the Afro-alpine zone. Cross the Liki North River and climb to Shipton's Camp at the base of the dramatic twin peaks of Batian and Nelion.
2 AM start for the summit push. Trek by headlamp up the steep scree slope to Point Lenana (4,985m) — the trekking summit of Mount Kenya. Arrive at sunrise for breathtaking 360-degree views — the Aberdare Range, Mount Kilimanjaro in the distance, and the spectacular Lewis Glacier gleaming in the first light. Descend to Old Moses Camp for the night.
Descend through the forest to Sirimon Gate. Receive your summit certificate. Transfer to Nanyuki.
