Today's route brings together Montane forest and Colobus monkeys. Travel to Sirimon Gate on the northern slopes of Mount Kenya. Trek through montane forest with towering camphor and cedar trees. The forest is alive with Colobus monkeys, Sykes monkeys, and mountain birds. Emerge into open moorland and continue to Old Moses Camp with panoramic views of the northern plains.

Expect the day to center on Mackinder Valley and Giant lobelia. Trek across striking moorland through the Mackinder Valley — one of the most beautiful mountain landscapes in Africa. Giant lobelia and groundsel plants dot the landscape as you ascend through the Afro-alpine zone. Cross the Liki North River and climb to Shipton's Camp at the base of the dramatic twin peaks of Batian and Nelion.

Day 3 is built around Point Lenana summit and Sunrise views. 2 AM start for the summit push. Trek by headlamp up the steep scree slope to Point Lenana (4,985m) — the trekking summit of Mount Kenya. Reach sunrise for breathtaking 360-degree views — the Aberdare Range, Mount Kilimanjaro in the distance, and the spectacular Lewis Glacier gleaming in the first light. Descend to Old Moses Camp for the night.
